Please include your phone model and its iOS or Android version. Never send us your passphrase or recovery phrase — we will never ask for them, and they would not help us help you.

Common questions

I forgot my passphrase. Can you reset it?

No — and that is the point. Your data is encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. We only ever store encrypted data and never hold the key, so there is no reset we could perform. If we could reset it, so could anyone who compromised our servers.

If you saved the 12-word recovery phrase shown when you set up the app, tap Forgot passphrase? on the unlock screen to recover your account and choose a new passphrase.

Your recovery phrase covers the account created when you first set up Tuckaway. If you lose both your passphrase and your recovery phrase, your data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

Does Tuckaway connect to my bank?

No. There are no bank connections and no third-party financial data providers. You enter transactions yourself. That is a deliberate design choice: no bank credentials to leak.

Can you see my balances or transactions?

No. Amounts, balances, vendor names, account and envelope names, and notes are encrypted on your device before being sent to us. We store only ciphertext. See our Privacy Policy for exactly what we can and cannot see.

How do I get my data out?

In the app: Settings → Data → Export Transactions (CSV). This produces a CSV file you can share or save anywhere you like.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Delete Account. It first offers to save each budget's transactions as a CSV file, then shows what will happen to each budget. Budgets only you use are deleted. A budget you share is never deleted: it stays with the person you share it with. Deletion is immediate and can't be undone.

You can also email support@claretcove.com and we will delete it for you. To revoke the app's access to your sign-in: if you sign in with Apple, in Settings → [your name] → Sign in with Apple on your iPhone; if you sign in with Google, at myaccount.google.com → Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services.

Transactions you delete inside the app are recoverable for 30 days, then permanently removed.

Can I share an account with my partner?

Yes. Use Share Account to generate a join code, and have the other person choose Join Shared Account when they set up the app. Each person keeps their own passphrase — the shared account key is re-wrapped for each member, so nobody learns anyone else's passphrase.

I'm a beta tester and the app won't open

On iPhone, TestFlight builds expire 90 days after they are uploaded. If yours has expired, open TestFlight and install the latest build. On Android, open Tuckaway in the Play Store and install any update. Either way, email us if you're still stuck and we will send a fresh invitation.
