How Tuckaway works

Envelope budgeting for iPhone and Android. Give every dollar a job, see what's left at a glance, and keep your numbers to yourself.

Home: the money available in My Checking and each envelope's balance, with a credit card that is covered

See what's left, at a glance

Each account shows what's available and what every envelope holds — Groceries, Mortgage, Date Night, whatever you budget for. An overspent envelope turns red, and the Negative filter finds them fast.

Your credit cards sit underneath, showing what you owe and whether it's covered.

Every envelope tells its story

Tap an envelope to see its balance and everything that moved it, month by month: each purchase, and each paycheck that topped it up. Paychecks split across your envelopes automatically, the same way every time.

Quick to enter

One + button records a purchase, moves money between envelopes or accounts, or pays your card.

Type the amount, tap a recent envelope, and you're done. Split a purchase across envelopes when it covers more than one thing. Tuckaway shows exactly which envelopes change before you save.

Every card purchase, tucked away

Buy something on a card and Tuckaway takes it from the envelope it belongs to and sets it aside for the card. When the bill comes, the money is waiting.

See what you owe, what's set aside, and whether you're fully covered. If the bank's number ever differs, Match card balance brings it in line.

Envelopes that fit how you budget

Give an envelope a funding goal to save toward, like holiday gifts, or a yearly budget for costs that come in lumps. Choose which envelopes to follow in Trends.

The Utilities envelope: funded $600 a month, spent $615 on average, $15 a month short Reports, Trends: Utilities funded versus spent for May through September, with September $75 over
Trends

Know whether an envelope is really funded

Trends compares what you put into an envelope each month with what you actually spend. Here, Utilities gets $600 a month, but September's electric bill ran $75 over. That makes it $15 a month short on average, so it's time to give it a bigger share of the paycheck.

Get paid at the end of the month? Tuckaway counts that paycheck toward the bills it's meant for: next month's.

Private by design

Your budget is encrypted on your phone before anything is sent. We store only scrambled data and never hold the key, so we can't see your balances, payees or notes. There are no bank logins to leak, because Tuckaway never asks for one.
